Crooked halls, minimal connections between classrooms and sanctuary, plus a sanctuary that was never finished were some of the challenges Childress and Cunningham were requested to solve. Historic detailing of wainscoting and chancel woodwork were created to seemlessly appear original to the building. Renovations included expansion of the sanctuary, more direct and open connections from lobby and classrooms into the sanctuary, new sanctuary lighting, new accent lighting for the stained glass at night, new exterior signage and additional stained glass.
