Childress & Cunningham created the P&G educational retreat facility and corporate offices for Camp Joy. The program includes offices, meeting rooms, and a large multi-purpose space with a service kitchenette. The exterior design of the Learning Center is drawn from the context of the site, and is reminiscent of a rural homestead of multiple farm buildings. Exposed structural wood beams provide significant visual unification between the exterior porch and the interior lobby. The character is enhanced by the board-and-batten siding, the standing seam metal roof and the wrap-around porch. The project also includes a small Creative Arts Pavilion, which is adjacent to the Learning Center.
