Architects and Construction Managers

The client desired to downplay the size of the home. Allan Childress used two techniques to hide the mass of the structure by creating a very moderate-sized central mass for the building, and hiding square footage in the wings and under the roof to create an understated traditional Virginia Colonial. All detailing inside and out was custom designed by Mr. Childress and were inspired by examples found in historic Virginia homes. Exterior porch, dormers, window surrounds, interior fireplaces, shelving, staircases and dinette booth were all on-site constructed from architect details.
