Childress and Cunningham developed a four-phased master plan including all aspects of a new 1,200 seat sanctuary and related spaces. A family life conference center, gym, chapel, youth suite and classrooms were all included in the scope. Prior construction by a design/build firm left unacceptable circulation paths that demanded significant internal rework to correct. While the church entered the master planning process believing phase 1 was a gym, the building team quickly became convinced, after Childress and Cunningham led interviews with ministry team leaders, to redirect phase 1 to be a family life conference center.
