Sharon Centre is a $4 million facility located at “the hub of the park” in Sharon Woods, one of the original parks in the Hamilton County Park District. The 24,000 s.f. facility was designed by a multi-disciplinary design team led by Roger L. Kerlin AIA, to bring the outdoors inside and set the stage for interactive displays and wildlife exhibits within a 19th century theme.
While the exposed timber-frame structure maintains the theme, the use of glass at the entries provides views to the outdoor play structure, picnic areas, and Heritage Village. Sharon Centre includes an exhibit space focusing on the creation of Sharon Woods Gorge and the natural history of the area, a gift shop, office space, a large auditorium, classroom space for educational programs, and ranger’s station.
